October 05, 2026

ARLINGTON, VA — The Meat Institute today issued the following statement in support of the nomination of Greg Ibach to be the Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the US Department of Agriculture:

“Greg Ibach is a committed public servant with deep knowledge of agricultural markets, and he understands that access to new markets is especially critical to beef and pork producers and processors,” said Meat Institute President and CEO Julie Anna Potts. “Ibach’s appointment will advance the Trump Administration’s ongoing efforts to break down tariff and non-tariff barriers in global markets to enable the US meat and poultry industry to benefit from expanded demand for high-quality, nutritious American meat and poultry products. We look forward to working with him on critical trade issues and urge swift consideration of his nomination when the Senate returns in November.”
